Wake up and start shaking
through yesterday’s jeans
hoping to shake out something
…anything.

You never know
what can be found,
down beneath
the trappings

of what the clowns
call “life complete”.
Ounces into pounds
and pennies into dollars,

and it's dollars
needed now, more than anything.
There is a terrible dream
on…

Another leaf
falls from the tree,
caught in a breeze
we will never see.

Another flower
picked from its stem,
so young and beautiful
at that moment, then.

Another bird
falls from the sky,
when all a bird must do
is fly.

Another tree
takes its last breath,
an omen, perhaps,
of something…
